Code of Conduct

Carer Kafe provides Learning and Development opportunities for home-based carers (kinship,
foster and permanent) in Victoria. These activities include face to face and in person sessions.
To ensure that Carer Kafe is a safe learning environment for all participants the following Code of
Conduct has been created for all participants in Carer Kafe activities (in person or online).

Carer Kafe participants are required to:

  • Treat fellow participants, trainers, and staff, with respect, and courtesy.
  • Be inclusive and avoid hurtful or offensive comments and behavior.
  • Take responsibility to ensure your comments and behaviour are reasonable,
    fair and appropriate to the circumstances.

Carer Kafe participants are strongly encouraged to inform Carer Kafe staff of and
discuss with Carer Kafe conflict/serious disagreement or serious issues.
Carers are required to comply with all relevant legislation, standards and policies
including, but not limited to the following:

  • Children, Youth and Families Act, 2005 (Vic)
  • Child Wellbeing and Safety Amendment (Child Safe Standards) Act 2015
  • Crimes Amendment (Grooming) Act 2014 (Vic)
  • Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic)
  • Fair Work Act 2009 (FW Act) and the Fair Work Regulations 2009
  • Family Violence Protection Act 2008 (Vic), Amended 2018
  • Federal Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth)
  • Information Privacy Act 2006 (Vic)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004
  • Same-Sex Relationships (Equal Treatment in Commonwealth Laws) — General Law
    Reform Act 2008 (Cth)
  • Victorian Charter of Human Rights C Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic)
